Evangelism Thoughts for the Leaders

How many of our Churches spend a great deal of resources towards Evangelistic outreaches within our cities. There is no doubt that we as Christians know and understand that this is a God given responsibility for the Body of Christ. Although, I would make the argument that along with the outreaches, we are missing the boat for the biggest Evangelistic outreach that is available to our Local Bodies. How much of those resources that we first mentioned are being allocated to the Evangelistic outreach of our own children that are being raised within the Church. Studies are showing that they are leaving the Church as soon as they are able to make decisions for themselves outside of Mom and Dad's Faith.  I will quote a passage taken out of a book that I believe is right on target when it come to this topic(Redefining Children's Ministry in the 21st Century written by Becky Fischer). "Recent surveys from the Barna Group reveal once children reach thirteen to seventeen years of age the numbers who continue attending church dwindle dramatically, and an alarmingly small number of young people take Jesus with them after High School.  One survey estimates that less then one out of three teenagers plans on continuing to attend church after they leave home. That's almost 70% of the youth we have raised."  One does not have to look to far within many churches to see this frightening trend taking root within our local bodies.  It is time to sound the alarm Church and take back what the enemy is trying to steal. Within posts to come I hope to bring some ideas of my own and many others who are fighting the good fight when it comes to these future Christian leaders on how we can begin to turn the tide and help to usher in a world wide revival before the soon return of Jesus Christ.
