Homeschool Evangelism

Deut 6:5-8 reads "And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your strength.  And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today.  Repeat them again and again to your children.  Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.  Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders.  Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."  When reading this scripture one thing stands out  to me more then anything else and that is the command to wholeheartedly commit yourselves to the instruction of the children.  I believe with all my heart  that the Lord has called many parents to Homeschool Evangelism.  I am aware of the many challenges facing many families concerning the possibilities of homeschooling their children, although I do believe that there are more families then not, that if they would really  seek the Lord, they would understand the privilege and responsibility that comes with mentoring their own child.  Psalms 127:3 states that our children are a heritage from the Lord.  If we truly believe this to be the case then I will quote Ron Gleason pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in California, "If your going to send your kids to Caesar, your going to get Romans Back."  The world we live in today and the schools we send our children to be instructed in are a religion in themselves.  I know what is coming next from many well meaning Christians and that is the comment that we are training our children to be salt and light in a dark world.  I understand what it means to be salt and light in this world and I truly desire my own children to walk this scripture out in their own lives.  Although, I would make the argument that the schools humanistic message in regards to time frames would far outweigh the time spent by well meaning Christians trying to fit Godly wisdom and instruction into an already jam packed day.  I have mentioned statistics from George Barna's books in other articles on this site referencing the percentage of children we are losing from the Church after they come of age.  That is why I am making the argument that If we trust in the Lord and wholeheartedly commit ourselves day and night to the training of our children they will not depart(Pro:22-6).  If we read out of Judges chapter 2 we find that Israel failed in their duty to pass to the next generation the mighty things the Lord had done and the next generation did evil in the Lords sight.  Further on in chapter 21:25 we read that Israel did what was right in their own eyes.  This sure sounds like todays Culture in regards to the Youth and adults alike.  We expect our children to follow in our footsteps and carry on their own Christian Faith but we are failing as Israel did in training and instructing the next generation. 1 Cor 15:33 and Pro 13:20 both speak to what fools or bad company does to good character.  As a Christian parent it is our responsibility to guide our children into good relationships that will not set them up for Failure.  We even read further in Deut 6:10-12 when scripture  warns us to beware of the world around us.
I write this article today praying that the Lord would speak to many mothers and fathers alike about Pro 31, 1 Tim 5:14, Titus 2:4-5 and 1 Tim 5 3-14 about the role of a mother to her family.  Scripture by no means forbids work outside of the home but it is clearly obvious that the home should be the priority.  Homeschooling provides an excellent opportunity to make the Evangelization of the children one of those priorities within the home. Once again I understand that this option is not practical for everyone but I would hope that each individual family would take an inventory and seek the Lord about this awesome privilege available to many of us. Finally I would conclude in saying that in the days to come I will include Homeschooling resources that would encourage and inform about this topic in the Bountiful Blessings store located within this site.  May the Lord Bless our Children and keep them all!
