A Call to Arms!

For such a time as this we have been placed upon the earth to hear the voice of God and do his will whatever it is.(Esther 4:14)  This time that we as Youth workers, parents and mentors have been entrusted with, is truly I believe one of the most critical times this nation has ever seen.  Now more then ever before a war is being waged against the foundation of what we stand for.  If we are to win this war and evangelize the next generation for Christ along with the Culture that fights against us, we no longer have a choice to watch from the sidelines.  We as Blood Bought Born Again Saints of the Living God must strap on our helmets and jump in the game.  The question is what do we stand for and how do we fight for it as well as train and equip the Youth to do the same.
The first goal above all things and what we as Christians should stand for is the Evangelism of our own children.  How can we expect the next generation to cherish the things of God and preserve and protect them if they do not have a personal relationship with Christ themselves.  I have stated before and believe wholeheartedly that when the situation presents itself homeschooling must become more of an acceptable option to families who desire to provide the most effective environment to evangelize the youth.  Whether it is homeschooling or personal discipleship we as parents and leaders must take the main role in training the children and stop leaving this task to the Church.  Our children need to know that we live what we preach, not to mention the fact that it is our biblical mandate (Deut 6:5-8).  I have said it before and I will continue to say that Youth Evangelism starts at home.
The second most important rock that we should stand upon and equip our children to support with passion is the gift of Life.  In the book of Jeremiah we are told that God knew us while we were yet in our mothers womb and Psalms 139, Job 31:15, and Isaiah 44:2 all speak to the Sanctity of Human Life.  Our Youth within our homes and children's ministries need to know that life begins at conception and must be protected as is all other life.  I am fearful that different segments of the Church are starting to slide down a slippery path that will be very hard to climb out of.  If we continue to rebel against Gods word and teach our children that the murder of the unborn is just a matter of choice and not to be defended in the public forum then the judgment of God awaits and we will be held accountable.
The next foundation stone that is being fervently attacked by the secular world is the concept of traditional marriage between one man and one woman.  One does not have to look far into the book of Genesis to read that God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.  The world continues to try and redefine this sacrament from God in order to fit into their own parameters.  Even our recently elected President to be, referred to Romans 1 as an obscure passage in the Bible in order to justify his own beliefs supporting non traditional marriages.  Our Children and the future leaders within our churches and governments need to understand it is not about our beliefs but God's.
Finally in closing we must not loose sight that are battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and evil spirits (Eph 6:12).  Our God that we serve is sovereign and he is calling a new generation of prayer warriors that understand the power of faith through prayer.  Let us all remember to never forget to foster a spirit of prayer but also to hold true to the promise of "Faith without Works is Dead".  We as evangelical Christians must equip the Youth to become involved privately through prayer but also in a public way through civil and governmental affairs.  My prayer is that God would hear our voices and restore our land but we must first humble ourselves, pray and turn from our wicked ways (2 Chron 7:14).  There are many other issues that we must unify together on as Christians in regards to the training and equipping of the Youth.  I believe that if we start with the issues within this post the rest will fall in order and restoration of our land can begin.

Wow, Jon! It truly is like the song "Faces"! If I had known back then the impact I was having on your life! I am now the mother of a wonderful five-year-old little boy and a Social Studies teacher. My son goes to Immanuel Lutheran in Hamilton and I teach at a charter school for underprivileged kids in Cincinnati. We attend Immanuel Baptist in Hamilton (the big white church up the hill from Hamilton High) and are actually gearing up for our big roles in the Christmas program. I invite you and your family to attend - Dec 13, 14, 19 or 20.
I lost my first husband and my boyfriend (that sounds so silly to say at my age...LOL!) actually found this blog. I was stunned! I am not very good at out and out witnessing so to know my actions spoke for me even in high school...again...WOW! I am going to give this website to the Youth Leader at our church as a resource.
Now that I know you are out there and what you are doing for God...I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless You my friend and brother in Christ!
